Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers mentioned they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure stated the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
