In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The storyline presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.

The adventure centers on "strange experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Bonus Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana in addition to numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Newest Free Story Content

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
